One weekend I went to a seminar where the speaker happened to mention ants. He talked about their strength and determination, also how they were team players. Naturally, I sat there and thought about "ant medicine" and why I had to hear about ant life at that moment.
Ant medicine calls to our attention patience, persistence and endurance. While I sat there and listened, I thought about my level of patience and the nature of the topic at hand. "Ant people" know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It also says, "what is yours will come to you."
It told me that with trust and patience, God would provide. As I reviewed my situation, I realized that I was working very hard and hadn't been seeing the fruits of my labor. Honestly, there are no worries with ant medicine present. It also serves as a gentle reminder that patience does have its rewards."

I would say it is not so much that squirrels in this current event are "helping" owls, it is humans who hurt owls' habitat.
As the article says, "The burrowing owl is currently listed as a species of concern by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, likely because its atypical habitat areas are being taken away for human expansion."

Houston Toad Magnet from Zazzle
In Texas, Bastrop State Park was mostly destroyed by fire, as reported by Examiner Eric Duncan - read on Examiner..com. Here's an excerpt:
'Bastrop State Park is also a primary habitat of the Houston Toad, with 2,000 toads living in Bastrop County, in an area known as the Lost Pines area. “It looks like they have lost most of their habitat,” Cox stated, “Biologists will be doing an assessment” of the toad’s demise. The Lost Pines area makes up 124,000 acres and is the primary habitat to the largest known population of the toad.'Defenders of Wildlife posted about the Bastrop County Texas fires and the endangered toad HERE.
